Funding

Funding for Pipfruit New Zealand Incorporated is largely provided through a compulsory grower levy. The rate of the levy is set annually at Pipfruit NZ's Annual General Meeting in July and the maximum level able to be set is 1.5 cents per kilogram of apples or pears sold in New Zealand or exported for sale.

The levy for the 2006 through to 2009 seasons was 1 cent per kilogram.

The levy has increased to 1.25 cents per kilogram for the 2010 season.

Before the Annual General Meeting budgets are distributed to all growers for their consideration. Voting on the levy amount is in direct proportion to the levy paid by each grower.
